SEAMANSHIP adds basic information for continuing boater education. The course contents provide knowledge for increased safe operation of recreational boats and provide the basis for completion of USCG licensing examination. Emphasis within the course is placed on higher level boating skills, rules of the road, and marlinspike (knots, bends & hitches).

The fee for the course is $78.00 for USPS members, $108.00 for non-USPS members and $185.00 for a one-year membership and the course. Additional students of the same household who share the manuals pay only $15.00 each.

Basic Boating - ABC3

You will learn the fundamentals of safe boat handling, operation, and basic piloting in one comprehensive classroom session. This course meets Florida State and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) requirements for certification. Completion of the course is accepted by most insurance companies. You will learn the basics of what you need to safely and comfortably go on the water with your boat. This comprehensive course includes lessons on seamanship, boat handling, boat types, rules of the road, navigation aids, regulations, adverse conditions, marine VHF radio, trailering and personal watercraft operation. An on-the-water session will also be held demonstrating trailer launching and retrieval; undocking, basic boat handling, anchoring and docking.
